Žiga Jereb was born and raised in Slovenia. After graduating from the Ballet Conservatory in Ljubljana he continued in his studies at the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera in Austria, where he successfully graduated in 2001. His first professional experience is connected with the company Ballet des Jeunes d‘Europe. In 2001 he became a member of Krefeld / Moenchengladbach Theater in Germany, where he spent 7 years under the leadership of artistic director Heidrun Schwaarz and later Robert North. He danced in choreographies created by Renata Zanella, Christopher Bruce, Hans Van Manen, John Linkens and both artistic directors of the company. In 2008, he moved to Landestheater Linz in Austria, where he worked for two seasons as a guest dancer and then as a member of the ensemble. Over here he danced in the modern choreographies of the artistic director of the company Jochen Ulrich: Fidelio, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Anna Karenina, Michelangelo, Winter Journey, Kafka – Amerika, Rumi, Four Seasons, Ship of Fools, The Seven Deadly Sins and Romeo and Juliet. In 2008 and 2009, he choreographed two pieces for the Slovenian Ballet Association Gala.
He studied art therapy in Vienna, and in 2014 founded non-profit society “Nowhere but here” which focuses on all-inclusive theater making, bringing together all artist no matter their physical disability or background. He recently collaborated with Lace Dance Company and Dance Ability Vienna on projects Dancing With Paints in Vienna and Dance is Dead in Los Angeles. He is a member of Kafka Tanzt group, which is researching, performing and combining texts with movement.
