Pavla Hrubešová was born in Brno, where she graduated from the Dance Conservatory. Her first engagements were at the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava and the National Theatre in Brno. Since the 2002–2003 season she has been a member of Prague’s National Theatre Ballet, in 2004 becoming a demi-soloist. Her tender, youthful and girlishly attractive appearance has predestined her for such roles as Kitri in Don Quixote, Myrtha and the Wedding Couple in Giselle, Pas de quatre, Pas de trois and Tarantella in Swan Lake, Clemance in Raymonda, Olga in John Cranko’s Onegin, Juliet’s friend in Romeo and Juliet and the Chinese Woman in Youri Vàmos’s The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol, Pas de six in Act III from the ballet Napoli and Act II from La Syphide. When it comes to the modern repertoire roles, she danced in Bonjour Brel (choreography: Eddy Toussaint) and The Rope Dancer (choreography: Phillippe Tallard).
At Prague’s National Theatre she has danced solo roles in choreographies by Petr Zuska: Ways 03, Among the Mountains, Requiem, Ibbur, or A Prague Mystery, BREL – VYSOTSKY – KRYL / Solo for Three, D.M.J. 1953–1977, Jiří Kylián: Stamping Ground, Return to a Strange Land, Petite Mort, Sinfonietta, Stijn Celis: Black and Blues, Conny Nanesen: Álbum Familiar, Itzik Galili: Through Nana’s Eyes and in the children’s ballet Goldilocks by Jan Kodet. She dazzled in the lead role of Lucrezia in Libor Vaculík’s ballet Lucrezia Borgia.
At the national competition of ballet artists in Brno in 2000 she received an honourable mention.
